GLOBETROTTING NINTH
ISSUE-WINTER 2000 "THE OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER OF THE DEVOTION TO MOTION WORLD TOUR"DESTINATION-DUBAI
Welcome friends as we
circle the globe in search of more effective ways to improve the
quality of life. During our journey we will explore various
forms of complementary medicines and share our findings with you.
We will also address accessibility issues and investigate more
convenient options to ease the never ending pressures of traveling.
In each issue, Globetrotting will have a special section created for
today's youth with an emphasis on educating children and teens on the
historical facts of each country. Finally, each issue will
contain two trivia questions and some popular words and/or phrases
from each country. For more updated news, diary entries,
in-depth research results, and pictures from our journey, please visit
our website, www.d2motion.com.
We hope you will enjoy the path we have chosen! DUBAI -- Have you ever had the desire to escape to a foreign land, filled with many mysteries and many fortunes? How about making a journey to a land that not too many people know about? Well, we have got just the place for you? Treat yourself to the recently discovered world of Dubai, a land of just 33 years old located in the Middle East. It is another one of those rare places that simply exudes acceptance of people. It is a city that is growing by leaps and bounds and has integrated many of the world's finest ideas, including technology. In 1966, oil was discovered in Dubai and a new city was born. We strongly recommend you open yourself to the Dubai experience and be a part of its new growth. You won't be disappointed! And for our disabled friends, please take note, you will not find too many other lands in the world that are committed to creating a place accessible to all. They will welcome you with open arms! Our original itinerary did not include Dubai, United Arab Emirates, however we were invited by the Dubai Tourist Board to see what this relatively new land as to offer for tourists including those traveling with special needs. We will be researching accessibility in-depth on a future issue of globetrotting. This issue will be an abridged version, as our to Dubai, U.A.E. was only three days. We have been invited to attend The Third International Exhibition and Congress on Rehabilitation in March. Scott will be speaking at the conference, at which time we will have ample opportunity to evaluate Dubai. During our short stay here, we were scheduled to visit numerous children's organizations which specialize in caring for and teaching disabled youth. They all were welcoming to us and we were highly impressed with their commitment to improve the quality of life for these children. We will be writing more about our experiences in a future newsletter. Please visit the website for pictures from Dubai and the rest of our journey. Our thanks go out to Pauline Berge, Manager of Tourism for introducing us to Dubai and facilitating our interest. Iqbal Siddiqui, Project Manager for formulating our schedule in Dubai and making all arrangements possible. Ali Akbar, Deputy Manager for Missions and Events for scheduling Scott's speaking engagement with the Hotel & Hotel Apartment Group Meeting. Khalid A. bin Sulayem, Director General for Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing. Saif Ali, of North Tours for arranging and accompanying us on the Desert Safari and Dinner Cruise. Of course, Allaudin, our friend designated to show us around town during our stay, our heartfelt gratitude.
Trivia Question: What do
you have to do to your jeep while on a desert safari?
