D2M TRIVIA QUESTION #1
What is the name of the first country to grant women the right to vote?

COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINE
If you are looking for an internal mirror to your spirit and your soul, look no further than Hamilton, New Zealand where the mystical and insightful Everlight works her magic.  Did I say an "internal mirror to your spirit and soul?"  Yes, I did.  This talented psychic/ clairvoyant counselor will help you navigate through the unventured waters of your past, present, and future so that you may free yourself from any barriers which you have created.  She has developed a technique called "Road Mapping," which enables you to locate the path you have chosen in this life, or many others if you believe in past lives or wish to explore, and understand why you have made certain choices and continue to follow certain patterns.  This technique comprises of numerology, intuition, honesty, courage, and a lot of love.  With all these ingredients present, anything is possible when you have a session with Everlight.  One must be willing to surrender during her sessions and allow healing to permeate any defenses.  Don't worry, if you are blocked or put up some resistance, Everlight will probably detect it before you actually do and assist you in recognizing it, embracing it, and ultimately releasing your fear, disguised as resistance.

Three years ago, I brought my darkness to New Zealand and watched Everlight transform much of my chosen darkness into light.  Considering that there was much more to be learned and more experiences to be had, I could not relinquish all of my shadows.  How much fun would life be if we resolved all of our issues!!  In a very loving and safe environment, she helped me to understand aspects of my life which I had suppressed so intensely, that I never knew existed until Everlight helped me retrieve them and bring them to the surface.  My first experience with her had such a profound effect on me that to further explore her work was inevitable.  This time around, she asked for both, Pratiksha and my birth information (dates and times) and the road mapping began.  She guided us through complete print-outs that she had prepared for us, detailing many aspects of our past, present, and future.  Now before you allow too much skepticism to shade your eyes, I should inform you that her findings were very accurate in terms of my life and Pratiksha's life.  This was not some routine astrology reading where you can easily become an actor or an actress in your own play.  Everlight's road mapping has substance and makes much sense, even to two somewhat skeptics like ourselves.

There are so many aspects of ourselves which lie dormant for years, but still affect us in ways, sometimes subconsciously.  It is imperative that we open ourselves to healing these parts of our being so that we may fulfill our destinies and live as happy a life as possible.  By taking the first step and recognizing that you want more in your life, you have made a commitment to yourself, you have honored yourself.  This is only part of the equation.  Then it is just as important that you connect with someone, who, though his or her own experiences of healing, can help you navigate the waters to the depth of your true essence, your beautiful soul and spirit.  Everlight can be that navigator.  She has worked through her own issues, owned them, embraced them, understands them, and has taken away the many lessons contained in each and every one of them.  Once she accomplished this, then she was able to tap into the many innate gifts given to her and has helped many others in their healing processes.  The following is a bio of Everlight and a brief description of her work: Everlight is an international facilitator, lecturer, teacher, networker and psychic clairvoyant counselor, with the ability help others locate the cause of stress, disability and illness. Most people find out about Everlight by word of mouth, or e-mail networking. She has had several international travelers stop in for a visit, a cup of coffee or tea and stay for counseling. Everlight suggests that unaddressed fears, old traumas and anger create a barrier to healing whether it be physical, mental or spiritual distress.  With a process Everlight calls, Road Mapping, these areas of one's life can be addressed so that healing on all levels can flow. She uses her multi-talents as both a spiritual and business counselor and encourages each person toward a balanced material and spiritual life. She assists others in recognizing and utilizing their own intuitive visions to achieve their dreams and goals in life.

Everlight prefers to counsel and teach others on "how to fish" rather than building a dependence on herself or others by just "feeding" them answers to their problems. Some have called her a navigator as she helps others learn to read their own Road Map in life. Everlight also encourages allowing humor into one's life as a great balance and healing agent. She feels that empowering those that come to her for counseling helps them discover who they really are. She encourages them to replace fears and anger with healing, forgiveness, compassion and love and all that has to begin from within. Everlight acknowledges all who pass her way, or contacts her through e-mail, as Spiritual Beings who have mapped out lessons for themselves their Beingness. She assists them on their journey of self discovery, healing and certainty in their ability to create a future of joy and abundance.

Everlight feels that being called a spiritual navigator fits her life's work well. Her own journey includes personal ups and downs in life, working with indigenous groups in North America, New Zealand and Asia, working in the business marketing, management and media fields, freelance writing, lecturer, facilitator/counselor and being a mother. All of which has kept her feet well grounded while she also follows her own Road Map to a clearer, joyous and abundant future.

To find out more about Everlight and Road Mapping, please visit the Perceptions & Beyond website at www.dragonswing.net/perceptions/beyond/ or email her at everlight-perceptions@usa.net

We also extend our gratitude to Everlight for connecting us with a Native American healer called Grey Wolf, who has been guided to channel his energies and do his good work in New Zealand for the time being.  Rather than discussing his type of healing with us, he recommended a session with me to unveil my path towards healing.  He is another intuitive who appears to analyze your energetic field while dissecting aspects of your life.  In my case, he sensed much anger and began to question me about different time period in my life, beginning with the age of nine.  As do many healers and practitioners, Grey Wolf believes that behavioral patterns created at early ages are usually responsible for where we are in the present.  His advice made complete sense to me, as I did not divulge too much information prior to his visit, nor did Everlight share my story with him.  Very reassuring, he did foresee me walking again in the near future, but emphasized that addressing the anger and releasing it was the most critical element in the equation.  If you are interested in Grey Wolf's work and wish to connect with him, please contact Everlight on email at preceptions@wave.co.nz.

NOTE: If you or anyone in your circle of friends are connected with any healer or complementary/alternative medical practitioner around the world who you would like us to research or visit, please E-mail us at chesney12@comcast.net

D2M TRIVIA QUESTION #2
What does the word 'Para' in Paralympic mean?

ACCESSIBILITY
New Zealand is the first destination for the D2M duo in the year 2000.  First things first, we had to land in Los Angeles (LA) from Newark in order to catch a flight to New Zealand (NZ).  Our transfer from the domestic terminal to the international terminal in LA was very unpleasant.  Granted, our frustration was heightened because we had our usual excess baggage and had to transfer from one building to another in less than one hour.  We found that there was no one at the domestic terminal who knew of any other transfer service except the free (in-accessible) bus service or taxi.  I tried to hail a taxi, but the driver refused to pick us up because he couldn't understand why we wanted to pay for something, when a free service was being offered.  Trying to explain the complications of the situation seemed futile.  As we were contemplating on what to do next, an off-duty airport employee on his break felt sorry for us and helped us by physically escorting us and our baggage to the international terminal.  I think we would still at LA Airport had he not come along.  So thank you kind stranger, your good deed will not be forgotten.

The remainder of the trip to New Zealand, with respect to our flight on Air New Zealand from Los Angeles to Auckland, NZ was smooth and unremarkable.  The employees on the ground staff as well as the flight attendants knew the exact protocol to follow when catering to a client with a disability (i.e.  tag the wheelchair "fragile" and deliver to the gate upon arrival at destination).  Immediately upon landing,  it's so refreshing to actually have a flight attendant approach us and say  "Just a moment sir, we are bringing your wheelchair to the gate at this time."  (Wow...we like this, because for the majority of our travels, we usually get perplexed looks from the flight attendants and the ground crew when we make this request). What a difference when it comes to being transported to your given destination. The NZ airport offers a variety of choices to reach your hotel.  We chose the most economical offer, an airport shuttle service which stops at a number of hotels and homes before reaching your own hotel.  We were not charged astronomical prices as in other countries, nor were we given perplexed looks from the friendly driver.  Taxi service was the same throughout the city, meaning that the car-like cabs were much easier to hail and all the drivers were courteous and accommodating; what a relief compared to Greece!  With respect to other means of transportation, there are trains throughout New Zealand that are equipped with portable ramps.  The process on the trains  is similar to boarding an airplane (i.e. aisle chair).  It is mandatory to inform them of your requirements when you are making a booking, as proper arrangements can be made by the crew. Incidently, the hotel where we stayed, Sky City Hotel in Auckland was brand new and very accessible, equipped with a shower seat and all other needs a disabled visitor may have.  The hotel is in the heart of Auckland which, aside from having some hills, is a well accessible city for a person using a wheelchair (no cars parked on the sidewalks, curb-cuts at each street corner, and the majority of shops and restaurants have only a small 1-2 inch lip at the entrance). We took a train to Hamilton to meet with Everlight, and as mentioned previously, the embarking and disembarking the train was done with ease.  We stayed at the brand new Novotel Hotel in Hamilton.  This is another accessible hotel in the heart of Hamilton, where we encountered a number of people with disabilities.  As is the case with Auckland, streets and a majority of places of business are accessible.

While in Hamilton, we met with representatives from an organization called Living Independence for Everyone (L.I.F.E.) Unlimited.  Their mission is "to empower people with disabilities to be in charge of their own lives."  They are a disability service that is primarily used as a resource and advice center for information, publications, equipment, leisure/recreation and a service brokerage.  Their goal coincided with ours "to improve the quality of  life for the those with special needs."

If you would like to visit New Zealand, we recommend you contact ENABLE Tourism New Zealand.  They are an information center in NZ that specializes in accessible tourism for people with special needs. They provide a 24 hour, 7 day a week service with full back up if required when visiting NZ.  They are knowledgeable in accessible accommodation (hotels/motels, farm stays, home stays, B&B backpackers and camping grounds), accessible transport, air, sea and land (including rental vehicles with hand controls and vans with a hoist).  ENABLE Tourism also provides accessible tours, personal attendants, hire equipment (e.g. hoists, wheelchairs, commode/shower chairs etc.).  To reach  ENABLE, please contact Barbara Hughes at the website: http://mysite.xtra.co.nz/~enabletour or: e-mail her: enabletour@xtra.co.nz

Our thanks are extended to Barbara Hughes of ENABLE Tourism for information regarding accessibility. Without people like her, our work would be much more challenging.  We also express our gratitude to Adri Booth of L.I.F.E.  for sharing information regarding the status of the disabled in Hamilton.  A final thank you to the manager & staff of the Novotel for connecting us with L.I.F.E., arranging an interview with a local television show, as well as for taking such good care of us during our stay in Hamilton.

ON A LIGHTER NOTE
It is about time that we share with you our suggestions for keeping yourself busy while flying the friendly skies.  C'mon, we are becoming experts at flying, don't you think.  First of all, you must program yourself for a nice, relaxing, comfortable flight.  Many people, including myself at times, get so caught up in the length of their flight and drain themselves energetically before even leaving the runway.  Whether you are embarking on a two-hour, or four-hour, or even a 12 hour flight as was the case with our flight from LA to New Zealand, try to remain calm and say to yourself, "This will all be over soon."  It's just like getting a shot from the doctor except that it lasts a little longer.  When all else fails, try to get bumped up to business or better yet, First Class.

Anyway, what to do keep yourself occupied on these long flights.  Of course you have all tried to read a good book, listen to music, or experienced watching a movie on board, right?  Have you ever tried journaling?  It's a great way to open up and express what you are feeling or just remind yourself of things that you wish to accomplish.  A great way to complement this process or even the sleeping process is to get yourself some good ear plugs.  Those of you who like to meditate on board will also be able to eliminate that endless noises on the aircraft by using ear plugs.  Another suggestion, per the suggestion of my wonderful wife and the best physical therapist in the world (I'm paid to say that!), is to tighten certain muscles throughout your body to better tone them.  For those of you like myself who do a lot of sitting, I would suggest you working on your abdominals.  Even if you don't have full use of them, tighten those that you can, hold it for about 5-10 seconds while continuing to breathe, and slowly exhale.  I try to do these exercises even when I am at home watching television.  Trust me, it works and you will see the results almost instantaneously!  Finally, if you are like me and can not sleep on flights (maybe it's because I'm always sitting), simply close your eyes and think about all the things in your life for which you are grateful.  This may sound corny, but it immediately reduces your anxiety or stress and brings you right back into the moment.  Have a great flight!!
