D2M TRIVIA QUESTION #1
What are the three largest countries in Europe?

COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINE
There is a magical secret in Holland that is just beginning to unveil itself, or shall I say himself, to the entire world.  Enter Roy Martina, MD.  This is one of the most brilliant minds in the universe.  Trust me when I tell you that this man has and is continuing to explore the depths of human behavior and our emotions and will not rest until the mystery is solved.  He was a general physician who decided that there was more that he could do for people than what conventional medicine provided.  A worldwide traveler himself, Dr. Martina never closes a door before checking what is on the other side of it.  He is open to new adventures, new discoveries, and welcomes the growth experienced through uncertainty.

I first met Dr. Martina in India at a Deepak Chopra seminar and my life has never been the same since.  Immediately, I felt a deep connection with this individual and began to model aspects of my life with his.  Several times I have been blessed to be treated by him and explore my life and its challenges.  While working with Dr. Martina, I immediately discovered that I could not run, nor roll, away from him with my worries, concerns, or fears.  He detects fear instantly and creates a safe environment for you to acknowledge your fears, accept and embrace them, and release them with total certainty that they have served you and you no longer need to hold onto them.  His work is that powerful!  I don't say this too often, but it is transformational.  Please read on about Dr. Roy Martina and his fascinating work and consider enrolling in his next seminar at the Chopra Center in La Jolla, CA from August 3-5.

Emotional Balance
Emotional Balance Technique is a unique self-help technique to address any emotional, stress or sabotage.  It has been developed by Roy Martina MD from Holland, an author of 21 books in the field of health and vitality. He is now one of the leading pioneers in Europe in the field of bio-energetic medicine. and travels worldwide to give workshops and lectures, he teaches in California at the Chopra's Health Center in La Jolla.

Sabotage
We all sabotage ourselves. Just think about all the things you want to do but keep procrastinating: exercise, weight loss, stop smoking, relationships, money etc. Wanting something is no guarantee that you will pursue it. Some people are very successful in one area and totally in sabotage in another area.

Sabotage comes from past conditioning and limiting beliefs of oneself. This can be limited to one area or more.  Poor self image is the result. That is the reason we can be confident in one area and insecure in another area.  Most sabotage come from unresolved emotional upset from the past, mainly in the period before we were 7 years old.  Because certain emotions were repressed they will have an effect on our subconscious mind and we become ambivalent in certain areas.  For example, as a toddler you were very clumsy and someone made a remark about it that hurt your feelings.  This can have an effect the rest of your life.
Emotional Balance is a very easy technique to learn. It utilizes muscle testing as a biofeedback device. When we say something that is incongruent the subconscious mind does not agree with the conscious mind) than the body reacts with stress which can be monitored with measuring the skin resistance or muscle strength.

Instant Acupressure
By using the weak muscle one can detect where the energy of the body is stagnated. By testing the specific energy channels (meridians, 14 in total) one can find the unresolved emotional block very quickly.  By applying acupressure the block is neutralized and the body instantly lets go of the past issue that was causal to all of this.

Results
Most phobias (98%) can be cured with a few sessions.  Stress, incongruency are no longer an issue.

E.B. is used by many practitioners in more than 8 countries to help their patients recover quicker from dis-ease.  It has been researched by the Medical University of Utrecht and has been evaluated as the most effective modality in alternative medicine with over 60% improvement of quality of life within 3 months of therapy. In Holland alone more than 1200 practitioners have followed a training at the Academy of Dr. Martina.  It is the fastest growing and most successful new therapy in Holland and Italy.  Now it is also available in USA.  For more information visit the Chopra Center's website at www.chopra.com and look for The Path to Inner Healing with Dr. Roy Martina.
Another complementary medicine technique which has drawn much attention all over the world is ChiNeng, also know as Chi-Lel qigong.  It is a modality that originated decades ago in China and is now practiced by millions around the world.  It combines subtle body movements, a still mind, creative visualization, postures, and a dedication to transformation of your mind, body, and spirit.  The whole technique involves the giving and receiving of chi to the universe.  Chi is the body's natural energy, also known as prana, that is at our disposal every moment when we are in awareness.
In China two years ago, I witnessed the incredible effects of qigong at the Huaxia Zhineng Qigong Center.  A 38 year old who had a tumor in his neck practiced qigong for the past two weeks and his tumor disappeared.  Another individual in our group had suffered from kidney disease for over five years and decided to stop his medication before coming to China.  During his stay he had blood drawn every other day and by the end of the trip, the disease was almost non-existent Our dear friend Patricia is currently conducting seminars, writing books, and spreading the word of Chi-Lel, packaged as ChiNeng for the new millennium.  Please e-mail her for more information at ChiNeng@aol.com.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Martina and Patricia for their friendship and guidance in helping us understand their most effective techniques.

D2M TRIVIA QUESTION #2
What country is popular for legalizing drugs, prostitution, bikes, canals, windmills, clogs and the 'Red Light District?'

ACCESSIBILITY
Did you know that Amsterdam Schiphol airport is reported to be among the most friendly in the world?  Well, according to a recent USA Today report, the frequent-flyers rate this one of the best, and Devotion to Motion agrees.  We had no worries when it came to wheelchair handling and receiving it at the aircraft.  In order to reach our hotel, we were asked to take the complimentary KLM shuttle which circles to and from the airport to major hotels every 30 minutes.  Although this is not "accessible," If you do have assistance from your fellow traveler, or feel brave enough to be carried up the three steps of the bus, you'll save yourself some cash.  A round trip will cost you about 30NLG (approx. $15.00 USD), with unlimited baggage.  Otherwise there are regular taxis available, as well as special accessible vans which can be arranged by your local travel agent.  There is a Metro (the train service) that is said to be accessible however, you may have to call them at least a day earlier in case they need to prepare for your boarding and disembarking process.

As soon as you arrive at your hotel, you may get a close call with the bike riders, so be careful.  You see, bicycles are the more popular mode of transportation in this country, and as such, there are designated bike paths throughout the city.  Pedestrians are suggested to stay off  these paths, lest they prefer to become a Dutch pancake.  However, this path affords an easy road for those in a wheelchair, because the bike paths are all over the country.  There is a picture of a bicycle on the paths which incidently are flat and have a smooth curb cut between streets, which eliminates trying to do hurdles over large curbs.  The only problem Scott and I had was wondering how far we had actually gone, because the roads are so smooth that we would forget how far we've really gone.  The majority of the hotels have at least one regulation wheelchair accessible room.  However, if you are in search of a hotel with multiple accessible rooms, you may have to search harder because the law here only asks that there be at least one accessible room, no matter how new or large the hotel.   Also, most restaurants and tourist attractions have made accessible adaptations for the wheelchair bound patron.

If you are interested in having a stress-free experience within Holland, Germany, Belgium, France, England, Italy and/or Denmark, we suggest you get in touch with Ms. Anna Dekker of EuroWorld, based in The Hague, Holland.  She has been specializing in tours for everyone, including the disabled for the last thirty years!  EuroWorld can make arrangements for groups and individuals based on any budget.  They cater to your personal needs beginning at the airport, in a wheelchair accessible van.  They are the only company in Holland that provides this service for the disabled; believe us we checked everywhere!  In fact, if you cannot walk up a few steps, then there is actually no tour company within the Netherlands that will cater to your specific needs.  She is particularly knowledgeable when it comes to booking truly wheelchair accessible accommodations, transportation and definitely does her homework when it comes to informing you of accessible or manageable tourist attractions and most importantly, toilets.  Please consider connecting with Anna Dekker of EuroWorld when you are planning your trip to Europe.  Her e-mail address is: euroworld.nl@wxs.nl , or give her a telephone call at: 31-70-385-9700.

As I mentioned earlier, we were unsuccessful when we contacted the Dutch tourist board to find out about tourism for the disabled.  The VVV, as it is called here has a number which you can call to retrieve information on all your tourist needs.  I spoke to a representative who informed me tat there is one able car that is accessible to the tourist, however, this one tram does not take a tourist route.  Other than that, there is no additional service available from the tourist office.  The woman was kind enough to provide me with a website address of an organization called "Travel & Tourism for All."  This was the best lead we had thus far, and we decided to contact www.ttfa.com to see what we find.   Thanks to the help of Anna Dekker (she can get anything done), we were fortunate to line up a meeting with the vice-chairman of this non-profit foundation, Mr. Willem Jongmans.
According to information provided to us by Willem, "Travel and Tourism for All has taken up the challenge to make facilities in Europe more accessible for people with special needs.  Its origins and philosophy lie in the Baker report on 'Tourism for All,' published in the UK in 1989." Currently, the organization is based in the Netherlands, and is assessing accessibility within tourist routes, transportation, accommodation and tourist attractions, according to the European Union levels of accessibility.  In addition, they are in the process of offering accurate and up-dated information for the disabled tourists, developing awareness and training staff dealing with the disabled in order to improve quality of service.  TTFA has a tremendous task ahead of them, but they seem to have everything in place to get the job done. We commend TTFA for this undertaking, it is definitely an important issue that has been avoided far too long.  To learn more about this foundation or to contribute your efforts, e-mail them at: info@ttfabelgium.be or visit their website: www.ttfa.com , if you would prefer, they can also be reached by telephone 31-343-52-1751.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ms. Anna Dekker of EuroWorld for giving us a native's accessible tour.  She is such a dedicated lady with a heart of gold.  A special thank you goes out to Mr. Willem Jongmans of Travel & Tourism for All for taking the time to meet and share with us their  much needed mission.  Finally, we would like to extend familiar thanks to the Rajaram family for making us feel like part of their family by devoting their time, efforts and most importantly their love and support, we appreciate it.

ON A LIGHTER NOTE
What would you say if I told you that there is a country that has legalized prostitution, marijuana, and is considering legalizing euthanasia (assisted-suicide)?  You may think that this is outrageous and that this country will have many problems.  Think again.  Holland is legalizing almost everything these days and is not feeling any negative effects.  Why?  In America, for example, people consider it a crime to solicit a prostitute, smoke marijuana, or even think of helping someone die.  Especially in the case of children, there is such a rebellious attitude that wants to defy any rule or restriction.  Think about it.  When you are told not to do something, whether it be as an adult or more so as a child or teen, you muster up more determination to want to do it.  Right?  We, as a society, do not like to be told what to do.  Our choices are taken away with laws, yet we do need them.  In Holland, prostitution is not abused.  The government takes care of the women and makes sure that they are all healthy and treated accordingly.  Whether or not you believe in prostitution is not the question here.  Inevitably, it will take place, whether you approve of it or disapprove.  The same notion holds true on marijuana and euthanasia.  All these "freedoms" in Holland are no longer issues because no issue has been made of it.  When you focus your attention on something, draw criticism towards something, or condemn an action, you will bring a collective energy with it from that of others.  This may result in protests, government intervention, riots, etc.  In the beginning, there was some criticism brought forward regarding legalizing prostitution and marijuana, but as time passed, an overall acceptance won out.  Always remember, acceptance is not a liking or a disliking.  It is the space in between these two energies where anything can flow!!
